What are Dedicated Web Hosting Servers?

When we speak of web hosting servers, there are 3 principal kinds - website hosting servers, VPS (private virtual web servers) and dedicated web hosting. Shared web hosting servers host many clients and so the system resources per web hosting account are limited, VPS web hosting give you more configuration liberty, but also influence other VPS web hosting servers on the hardware node if used imprudently, and dedicated web hosting servers offer you the option to perform everything you choose without messing with anyone else.

Why would you require a dedicated web hosting servers?

Dedicated web hosting servers are traditionally much more high-priced than shared web hosting servers or VPSs. Why would anyone, then, use them? The answer is quite simple. If your firm has a large web portal, or just has very special web server setup requirements, the most appropriate option is a dedicated web hosting servers. For somebody who is prepared to invest in security and dependability, the bigger price is of no importance. You gain root-level access and can utilize 100 percent of the hosting web server's resources without anyone else sharing these system resources and messing with your web pages.

Hardware specifications

Most website hosting suppliers, including us at Real Tech Hosting, offer several hardware configurations you can choose from in consonance with your needs. The configurations include different sorts of processors, a different amount of cores, different RAM memory and server disk drive sizes and different web traffic allowances. You can select a hosting CP, which is a useful graphical user interface if you wish to use the dedicated web hosting servers for website hosting purposes only and prefer not to use an SSH client for all the changes you will be making. We offer three types of hosting Control Panel software - Hepsia, DirectAdmin and cPanel.

The Control Panel of your preference

If you are a confident Linux user (our web servers are running on Linux or other Unix-based OSs), you could manage your dedicated web hosting through an SSH console exclusively. That, however, could be awkward, especially if you choose to grant root privileges to somebody else who has less technical knowledge than yourself. This is why having hosting CP software activated is a smart idea. The Hepsia web hosting Control Panel interface that we provide does not include full root access and is mostly appropriate for somebody who maintains lots of web pages that devour plenty of system resources, but wants to administer the web pages, databases and e-mail addresses through a user-friendly Control Panel. The DirectAdmin and cPanel web hosting Control Panels, on the other hand, grant full root-level access and include three access levels - root, reseller and user. If you plan to resell hosting accounts instead of using the dedicated web hosting servers solely for yourself, you should choose one of these two.

Server monitoring and backup procedures

Last but not least, there is the matter of monitoring the dedicated web hosting servers and of backing it up. In case of a problem with your hosting server, like an unresponsive Apache or an outage, it is advisable to have some sort of monitoring system activated. Here at Real Tech Hosting the system administrators monitor all dedicated web hosting servers for ping timeouts, and, if you have a Managed Services package, they monitor the separate services on the dedicated web hosting servers as well. Backups are also an extra feature - the web hosting distributor offers you data backups on our own backup servers. You could choose a type of RAID that would permit you to keep the same data on two hard disk drives as a precaution in the event of a hard disk failure, or in case someone whom you have ranted full root access deletes something by mistake.
